Tell us why you chose Purdue University for your undergraduate education.
Purdue is known as one of the best universities in the U.S.!
How would you describe the faculty and staff in the College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS)?
I am majoring in hospitality and tourism management (HTM), as well as psychological sciences (PSY). I would say all of my HTM and PSY professors have been very knowledgeable and responsible. Even though I am somewhat introverted, I have felt comfortable consulting with HHS faculty and staff whenever I have concerns about my academics. They are always patient and kind.
What advice would you give international students who are about to start their first year at Purdue?
Do not be afraid to talk to your academic advisor as they are there to help you. Also, take some time to get involved in organizations and make new friends. Friends will get you through the hard times.
What is your favorite thing about Purdue?
Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, walked on the Purdue campus when he was a student. Purdue is the first university to have its own airport. It’s so great to be a Boilermaker!
Tell us about some of your activities at Purdue.
I did undergraduate research related to my hospitality and tourism management major. I feel fortunate to have been involved in research as an undergraduate, especially because I plan to attend graduate school. The research project I worked on really developed my critical thinking and rational skills. Those are skills I will be able to use throughout my whole life. Also, I got the chance to know and work with outstanding professors and PhD students which definitely motivated me to perform to my highest potential.
Moreover, participating in student organizations has been an excellent way for me to cultivate my leadership skills. Unlike undergraduate research which requires well-organized thoughts and rationale, student organizations allow for brainstorming and encourage novel and exciting ideas from everyone.
